In the world of boatbuilding, Rybovich is synonymous with excellence. Founded in West Palm Beach in 1919, the yard splashed its first custom-built sportfishing boat in 1947. To this day Rybovich retains its iconic status as one of the oldest and most sought after boatbuilders in America. We’re excited to host this Rybo Weekend not far from the original Rybovich & Sons Boat Works.
In 1961 Rybovich was proclaimed “The Stradivarius of sportfishing boats” by Fortune magazine. A Rybovich boat is still treasured to this day for her elegant lines and futuristic style, her rocket speed and superior craftsmanship. Since the 1940s Rybovich boats have been an object of desire coveted by America’s brand-name tycoons like Firestone, duPont, Hutton, Ballantine, Gillette and Maytag (along with Al Capone’s second in command and Bernie Madoff).

Along with the breathtaking sight of over a dozen vintage Rybo’s, Pat Rybovich, (daughter of designer/builder Tommy Rybovich) will present her recently-launched coffee table book, RYBOVICH with Q&A and book-signing afterward.
“My dad died when I was 16, leaving a sea of unanswered questions about his life and his passion to create. He was acclaimed as a genius yacht designer but he had no formal training in naval architecture. Surprisingly he had little interest in boating and yet he devoted his entire life to perfecting boat design—working alone at the boatyard until midnight nearly every night. In my quest to better understand the enigma that was my dad I set out on a mission to track down the men who worked alongside him, the men who knew him best. In the process I unearthed thousands of never-before published photographs of the boats and of my dad and his brothers in the boatyard along with countless sketches, notes, and other historical documents– which is how the RYBOVICH book came to fill over 600 pages!”Pat explains.
The result of 4 years work is RYBOVICH, a book that captures the spirit and struggle behind her family’s famed boatyard. Join Pat on Saturday, Oct 13 at 5pm for the Book Presentationand a behind-the-scenes look at the remarkable stories behind each custom-built Rybo on display at the dock. Afterword she will sign copies of her massive 608-page, 20-pound, limited edition coffee table book and answer audience questions. The book overflows with photos and history never published until now. Pat delves deep into the extraordinary world of Rybovich in its heyday, igniting newfound passion the world over for vintage Rybovich.
